Experience Center Of The Extinct Water
In the year 2275, humanity has exhausted The Earth’s most valuable resources - water. Human can still survive by consuming other artificial substances with the aid of advanced technology. Yet the concept of water has become part of the history.
A group of historians, psychologists, scientists and designers have built a massive underground architecture intending to teach the future generation about this substance which was used to bring The Earth life everyday.
LEVEL 1 - THE MAZE
While surrounded by the organic walls of The Maze, visitors can freely discover the unknown in the waves of ocean. The overwhelming scale of the surroundings demonstrates the power of nature. Some people may feel lost but some may find peace and meditative during the process of exploration.
- Circular chambers in different corners of the maze where it provide a resting space for the visitors during the adventure
- Taxidermy of sea animals can be seen in between walls and floor which reminds people of the organisms that once lived before water disappeared from the Earth
LEVEL 2 - THE SHOWER
Thousands of small crystal orbs are hung in the atmospheric environment of The Shower to imitate rain drops. The coldness of the orbs can provide a sense of wetness to the visitors’ skin when they walk through them. The “rain” maybe gloomy for some people but some may enjoy the refreshing atmosphere of the space.
- Standing at the top of the platforms, visitor can feel isolated from the rest of environment
- Platforms will be illuminated while being stepped to create a ripple effect
- The idea of a shelter for rain is introduced through the umbrellas hung in the air
- The visitors will be able to see “The Northern Lights” when they look up at the bottom of the maze
LEVEL 3 - THE POOL
The deepest level is The Pool that is closes to human’s heart, as it contains the people’s memory of the intimate contact with water. The space is enjoyable and fun which the visitors can interact with the installation. Through the activities they do in the space, they create bonding between people. The nostalgia also let the visitors connect to their personal experience with water.
- The visitors are able to go down the slide from The Shower to enter The Pool
- The visitors are able to interact by drawing, leaving a message on the hazy surface of the structure that simulate mist
- Blurry figures of children are projected to bring in humanity for people to connect
THE ELEVATOR
At the end of the journey, visitors can travel back to the surface of the Earth by taking The Elevator located in the center of the architecture. There are video explanation of the intention of the experience and documentary of how the ancestors have treated water. Before exiting, a small sample of water is given as a souvenir for visitors to reflect on the purpose of its existence.
"Now you have seen what the ancestors had done with water.
Here is a small sample of water in the hollow of your hands, what are you going to do with it?"
